All entrants must be on hand for weigh-ins 8AM to noon on October 13, 2001 unless they weigh-in early. Friday night weigh-ins are at Sonoma Joes, 5150 Montero Way, Petaluma, 8PM to 10PM  (Formerly known as Jokers Wild)

Competition start time on Saturday October 13^th is 1:00PM

Over $5,000 in Cash & Prizes will be awarded

Weight Classes:

Men’s Professional Right & Left Hand: 0-132, 133-154, 155-176, 177-198, 199-242, 243+.

Ladies Professional Right:  0 -121, 122-143, 144-176, 177+.

Men’s Amateur Right & Left Hand: 0-154, 155-176, 177-198, 199-242, 243+.

Men’s Masters (Age 40+):  Right & Left Hand  0 -165, 166-198, 199+.

Men’s Grand Masters (Age 50+):  Right Hand:  0-165, 166-198, 199+

There will be no clothing allowance - You can weigh-in without clothing

Dear Wrestlers,

      The World's Wristwrestling Championships and Petaluma, California have much to offer you in 2001.  This year's tournament will continue to lead the sport in originality and excitement. There will be a total of over  $5000.00 in cash and prizes awarded to the Professional Classes.  Since 1989 we have used standard armwrestling tables.  We have been in contact with many new wrestlers this year and expect to see many new competitors from all over the United States, and throughout the world.  Again this year we will have the presentation of Champion T-shirts to the first place winners in each class.

     This year's tournament will be exciting as we are moving back to the location where ABC’s Wide World of Sports filmed our event for 16 years, the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building.  We are very excited about returning to this great location.   For those of you that have not attended our tournament, this is the 50th Anniversary of the official WWC.  It has always been held in Petaluma, California and was viewed by millions when aired by "ABC's Wide World of Sports" for 16 years.  In 1995 it was televised all over the world on the Discovery Channel and in 1996 was featured on the Sunday NBC World edition news (Five minutes right between the Pope and President Clinton) plus ABC’s Wide World of Sports did a segment on us based on a prior tournament.  Last year it was featured on the Bryant Gumble show and CBS.

      Petaluma is in the heart of California's "Wine Country" and is also only a 35-minute drive from the sights of San Francisco and about 30 minutes from Marine World Africa USA in Vallejo, California. It is the perfect place to take your family for vacation and also give you the opportunity to compete in the oldest and best-known tournament in the World.  The tournament that started the organized sport of armwrestling.  If you are flying in you can book your flights into San Francisco or Oakland, California.  Oakland Airport is easy to get in and out of and is also the same distance from Petaluma.

      Again this year you will receive a $5.00 discount when you enter more than one weight class.  We are looking forward to seeing many of you enter more divisions because of this benefit. Remember there is no clothing allowance again this year.  You may weigh-in without clothing.  There is a Friday night weigh-in for those of you concerned about your weight and will be held at Sonoma Joes. The times are between 8PM and 10PM Friday October 12^th.  Weigh-ins will also be held Saturday October 13^th at the Vet’s building 8AM to Noon prior to the tournament, which will begin at 1PM.

      We are looking forward to seeing all of you again and also meeting those we haven't yet met. We have made great strides in the sport of armwrestling in the past few years.
