Be a Part of HISTORY in the Making! 1998 WILL BE THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA IN THE SPORT OF ARMWRESTLING!! The Northwestern Ontario Armwrestling Club, host of the 1998 World Armwrestling Championships welcomes you to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. We are working diligently to make this the best Armwrestling Event ever held in the history of the Sport. We thank all the countries that have already confirmed. At present, we have commitments from over 25 countries. We urge those countries that have yet to register to do so as soon as possible so that we can ensure adequate accommodations. What to do... Besides armwrestling of course. Thunder Bay has no lack of activities to keep athletes and officials alike entertained. From hot night spots to spectacular nature sites to cultural activities, Thunder Bay has it all. You can view and do at your convenience or take advantage of the City tours we will be providing. What to wear... As the name suggests, Thunder Bay does have its share of thunderstorms, but it is also holds the title for Canada's sunniest spot east of the Prairies (see enclosed brochure). Since this event is being held in the fall, Thunder Bay will offer a splendid array of the most vibrant colors that nature can provide. The weather will be a little cool, just perfect for enjoying the outdoors in a light jacket. Evenings get a little cooler, so a medium weight jacket is suggested. The average daytime temperature for October is 15 degrees Celsius. Where to stay... We have arranged for the accommodations to be in the Prince Arthur Hotel. It is conveniently located in downtown Thunder Bay North within walking distance to many amenities (see enclosed brochure). Please complete the enclosed hotel registration form and return it by August 30 or earlier to ensure availability. What to eat... Thunder Bay offers a variety culinary delights close to both the hotel and the venue. But if you would rather not have to worry about foraging for food, we are offering an inclusive daily meal ticket that you could purchase for one or all days. This ticket would include lunch and supper, breakfast being offered free of charge for those staying at the Prince Arthur Hotel. The sample menu is listed below, and it will change daily. Please fill in the Meals Form provided and return it no later than August 30, 1998. The cost of a daily meal ticket is $40 Canadian and it includes all taxes and gratuities. Lunch Salad Bar Supper Salad Bar Where it's happening... The Championships are being held at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition in the Coliseum. This venue is ideally located in the center of Thunder Bay, within walking distance of the Region's largest shopping center (see enclosed brochure). How to get to Thunder Bay... We have contracted Canadian Airlines Internationals to be the Official Carrier of the 1998 World Armwrestling Championships. Because they are a sponsor please ensure that you book your flight through Canadian Airlines and make sure you use the STAR# M02616 to get the lowest fare available. If you are booking through from a country that Canadian does not service, please ensure your connecting flight is on a Canadian Carrier. If you quote your STAR# to your airport or travel agency, they should be able to accommodate you. See enclosed brochure for Canadian Airlines' toll free number. How to register... We have included a competitor information form, hotel registration form and a meal form in this package. Please photocopy as needed and have every person who is attending the Championships complete each and return them no later than August 30, 1998.
