New York’s First Professional Arm Wrestling Team

{THE ‘NY TENDONS’} could take underdog role as National and

 World Champs ‘Armed for Battle’, invade New York City

The event will be staged at the Modell's Sports Experience Show

Hosted by the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan NY.

 Saturday MARCH 25, 2000 -PRO ARM WRESTLING TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP.  The world’s best arm wrestlers have registered to compete and will soon arrive in Manhattan to challenge New York's first Pro arm wrestling team 'The NY Tendons' at the Modell’s Sports Experience Show on March 25th.  Registration and weigh will begin at 10am and start time is at 12:30pm. The event is hosted by the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on 36th St. and 11th Ave.  Day-of-event admission is $17 for adults and {$10 for children 3 to 11 years old} Arm Wrestling is just one of a full range of major league sporting events that will be represented.  The three day March 24 to 26 sports show, is billed as the 'Worlds Fair for the Fan'.   Sunday MARCH 26, 2000 - AMATEUR ARM WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP  In addition, to the Pro Team Championships, amateurs and beginners also will have a shot to prove their worth at the first open New York ‘Golden Arm’ Series Championship on March 26.  Weigh-in and registration (walk-ins accepted) will begin at 10 am and start time is at 12:30 pm.  The entry fee for contestents is $15.  This event will  feature 12 weight classes for men and women, including the popular Masters 50+ years, light and heavy classes. All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will qualify for the Empire State Finals to be held once again at Madison Square Garden, next February.

 The Pro Team Arm Wrestling Event  features two teams --The New York Tendons team, which was established last month at Madison Square Garden vs. The Big Apple Challengers - with opposing Red and Black uniform T-shirts.  Both men and women will compete in a total of 12 weight classes, including a mens 50+ class.  A point tally will determine the winning team.  Gene Camp of  The New York Arm Wrestling Association {NYAWA), who organized the teams said, “I can’t believe competitors are coming here by plane and from across the USA to challenge the New York Tendons.  I thought that this might happen down the road someday, but not on our debut.  I guess people don’t like to hear us boast that we have the best arm wrestling team in the World,  as our website {'We Challenge You'} states. We do have the best talent in the tri-state area and we're going to give them a run for the money. Actually, this response is incredible, since no cash prizes are being offered." Some World and National women's champions that have registered, include Cynthia Yerby from Wolf, Oklahoma, Karen Curavoo from Waybndge, Vermont and Monica Wosniak from Sterling, Virginia plus New York's own 'Queen of Arms' unbeaten 16 year old phonem, Jayme Fernandez  from Sayville, Long Island.
