The New York "TENDONS", City's First Pro Arm Wrestling Team, Comes To Grips (March 25th) in "NYC BIG APPLE GRAPPLE" at Modell's Sports Experience

Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to host spectacular three day sports show

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK February 15, 2000 The first official New York professional arm wrestling team will be featured at The Modell's Sports Experience, being held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from March 24-26, 2000. The team, the New York TenDons, consists of the best arm wrestling talent in the Tri-State area, who will be competing for the pride of NYC against men and women challengers from all over the US and Canada. The March 25th scheduled event will feature a point tally to determine the winning team. The New York TenDons team was recently established at the Empire State "Golden Arm" Championships, held at Madison Square Garden on February 4, 2000, sponsored by the New York Arm Wrestling Association (NYAWA).

The New York Sports Commissioner Ken Podziba, in commenting about the event said, "The New York City Sports Commission is fully supportive of the Modell's Sports Experience-2000 as it shares our belief that New York City is truly the premier city for sporting events. With 19 million people living in a 31-county region, there are a lot of sport fans out there." Last year Mayor Rudolph Giuliani accepted an award from The Sporting News recognizing New York City as the "Best Sports City in The US and Canada". The publication ranks New York City as #1 in sports among 350 cities throughout the US and Canada.

Kevin Broadbin, Show Director for Comtek International, which is managing the event, commented, "The Modell's Sports Experience is the 'World's Fair for the Fan.'" We are excited to have the New York Arm Wrestling Association participate in the Show. They know how to put on an exciting competition and will undoubtedly gain new fans rooting for New York"s first pro arm wrestling team; there is even a scheduled amateur event for the fans on March 26, 2000."

Gene Camp, president of the NYAWA, added, "Arm wrestling is on the rise... it's a sport that anybody of any age, sex or weight can compete in. The Modell's Sports Experience has risen to the challenge of featuring universal, major league sporting events under one roof -- this is a great idea for NYC!"

The Modell's Sports Experience will attract 75,000 sports enthusiasts from the tri-state area. Sports fans can participate in a variety of interactive sports activities and tournaments provided by area sports associations and professional teams, ranging from baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, golf, and tennis to stickball, arm wrestling, karate and much more. Plus, there will be appearances by sports celebrities. Don't miss the excitement on March 24-26 2000 at the Javits Center. For Show information call {203} 834-1122 or Visit the website
