JUNE 2001

Don’t forget the USA Unified Nationals are coming up on August 4/5 at the AVI Casino & Hotel in Laughlin, NV.  This will be the only qualifier for the World Championship held in Poland.  You should make every effort to make this event.  The competition will be fierce for sure this year.   The Open classes will be run on the 4th and the Masters & Grand Masters will be run on the 5th.  Custom medals will be awarded for 1st thru 4th place.  The 1st and 2nd place finishers in each weight class will qualify to go to Poland.  Come and be part of History.  For more info call Denise at 406-248-4508.  For reservations call 800-284-2846 and memtion armwrestling.

We regret to announce that there is a severe problem with the chat room.  Not sure when or if it will be fixed.  In the meantime the NYAWA has a chat room that we could use.  Just go to bookmarks and click on the NY site, go to chat room.  We will leave the time the same (9pm) on Tuesday night.  If there is a better night for the chat room or better hour please drop us a line or e-mail to iaf1@mediaone.net.

There seems to be a lot of injuries occurring lately.  Not sure what the cause of this could be from.  Maybe too much lifting, too many contests or too much practice.  Some of the armwrestlers may be pushing themselves too hard. Trying to achieve too much too quick.  Every arm is different; some require a lot of time to heal where others need very little. An example of this would be our Provincial Director from Canada, Denis Debreuil.  I have seen him pull 4 weight classes one weekend, five the next weekend and then on the third weekend pull four more.  And he was winning most of these.  Some pullers can’t really pull hard at more than one contest a month. The trick is to know which category best fits your style.  A good safe idea would be to lift 2 days and practice one day each week.
