International Armwrestling Federation Newsletter Bill Cox, President Newsletter
The AAA Nationals were held in Arlington, Virginia. The hotel was very nice and also very expensive. On Friday night they ran the left hand and master classes. There were about 100 competitors. On Saturday the right hand open classes were held. There were 190 competitors on hand for this part of the Nationals. It was nice to see a lot of old time competitors coming back at this tournament. It was fun to see people like Bob Hopkins, Sam and Jim Battles walk around the competition and over half the people there didn't know who they were. It was nice to see Rhonda Lindley back in competition after about 6 years. There were quite a few classes that came down to 2 out of 3 pulls to decide the winner. The competition was really close for most of the tournament. The match of the day on Friday had to be Bob Hopkins against Bob Buttafuco. They had to pull twice to decide 1st place and both times they ended up in the straps. Bob Hopkins took the win after 2 hard matches. RESULTS Men's Right 0 - 110 #1. Lyle Foster #2.
